Subframe Jig

The dimensions and layout of the subframe jig shown above will work well with rod-change gearboxes, but I’ve found that on remote-shift gearbox casings the shift linkage mechanism on the underside of the diff housing fouls the scissor jack and the adjustable height mount. To remedy this the adjustable height mount needs to be moved rearwards about 2″ to create clearance for the shift linkage. This can be done by moving the jack supporting bar back another 50mm when building the jig, or make a revised adjustable height mount as illustrated in the photos below. Which ever way you go, the mount on top of the jack will obviously need to be longer than the earlier example because as you move it rearwards the spacing between the subframe legs becomes greater.
